I decided to approach Easter slightly differently this year. Instead of indulging in the usual mountain of chocolate eggs, I leaned into something far more nourishing -quality time with friends.
Getting myself down to Brighton after work on Thursday evening felt like a bit of a mission at first, but it turned out to be darned good in the end. I met up with some old school friends at Pho in the Lanes, including one who was over from New York celebrating a big birthday. Reconnecting after all these years was awesome—so easy and natural, even after 30 years. A trip to NY in the near future to visit her is much needed I think.
Had another brilliant catch-up with a different circle of friends the next day, complete with coffee, homemade hot cross buns (which I don’t like) and blueberry muffins (which I do), and of course lots of chat. It was one of those easy, soul-filling afternoons where time just slips away.
I even managed to squeeze in a trip to Babylon Garden Centre with another lovely friend—buying plants, chatting absolute rubbish, and laughing. Sometimes it’s the most random moments that end up being the most grounding.
Each moment over the weekend reminded me of something so simple but powerful: humans thrive in connection. We’re meant to be part of a tribe. And this Easter, I felt that truth more deeply than ever.
