Saying Yes and ending up in France

I spoke already about saying yes to myself. So I said yes — to myself, and to one of my dear friends — and agreed to go to France to sing some requiems in a church. Bit random, I know. But apparently it's called a "come and sing" with a composer named Matthew Coleridge.

We had a crazy weekend which, though it took me completely out of my comfort zone and we were both wholly unprepared, turned out to be frustrating, hilarious, beautiful, and fun. We sang in a choir in the Église Notre-Dame d'Émeraude in Dinard — an incredible experience, even if I wasn't note-perfect. The music was moving, the acoustics were amazing, and being part of something so much bigger than ourselves was both humbling and exhilarating.

We swam in the sea, were hosted by an awesome couple called Yveline and Alain, walked along the coast, drank coffee by the beach, had an evening swim in the sea and watched amazing fireworks in the pouring rain. And best of all, I got to spend time with an amazing person, who is now an even dearer friend than ever.

If I hadn’t said yes, I would’ve missed out on all of that!
